We Need Common Sense In 2008
At the end of World War II the United States was blessed and fortunate to have pretty much escaped the ravages of war and emerged as the most prosperous country on the planet. The country became the worlds largest lender nation.
Since then, in the course of the next 60 years that inheritance not only was squandered but the nation was put into such debt that this generation's great grandchildren will still be paying it off - IF - paying it back ever begins in earnest
Before a debt can begin to be paid back, however, first the annual budget (the amount being spent by the government) must become at least "balanced" so that there is an available balance after current expenses with which to pay back the debt.
Such a resolve by this country's political leaders and even the populace is no where in sight. It appears the people of this country are in a drunk-like spending spree and there is no end to it
I have written a number of proposals here as suggestions for ending this situation. Having a sound money policy is definitely the starting point for such a change and I, the author, support Congressman Ron Paul, Presidential candidate in 2008 because of his leadership towards sound money policy.

What Patriotism Isn't
The destruction of our money system by the Federal Reserve will go down as the biggest, single event that brought down the nation known as "The United States Of America". It wasn't terrorist running planes into buildings. It wasn't "enemy combatants" in far off lands attacking our troops. No, it was home grown and is commonly known as greed.

Government Needs To Make "Real" Money
The modern money system is nothing more than an elaborate shell game, ponzi sceme, and perhaps check kiting scheme (take your pick). The congress must take up their Constitutional Responsibility and restore real coins to circulation in the marketplace.
